From a cozy idea to a second opening in Barcelona
When I met the founders of MyFriendCoffee, they had a clear vision: to create a specialty coffee shop that combined quality coffee with a warm, authentic service. The challenge was to translate that essence into a coherent, warm, and memorable visual identity.
Successful branding with soul: what we did in this project
My work consisted of designing the visual identity from scratch: logo, color palette, typography, graphic applications (packaging, mugs, etc.), menus, and digital presence. Each element was designed to reflect the brand's personality: approachable, conscious, and handcrafted.
We weren't trying to look like a big franchise. On the contrary: we wanted to maintain the value of the human, the small, the well-made.
The logo combines simple lines with a gesture drawn in the illustration, as a nod to Emran's personal approach.
The palette is warm, inspired by brown tones, wood and natural textiles.
The illustrations that accompany the menus and cups reinforce this close, homey narrative.
The real impact of good branding (beyond design)
Today, three years after its opening, MyFriendCoffee has opened a second location in Barcelona. Not only for its good image, but also for its excellent coffee, service, and loyal community. But the visual identity was key to achieving recognition, consistency, and memorability from day one.
A good brand isn't just born, it's built and nurtured. And supporting that growth as a designer has been an invaluable experience.
To create successful branding, you must reflect and maintain an essence; only then will we achieve memorable results.
