Branding for the podcast Llegando a los 30

Manu had wanted to talk into a microphone his whole life. We helped him shape his podcast with an identity that sounds exactly like him.

The starting point: a podcast about the questions you face in your thirties

Llegando a los 30 is a conversation podcast about decisions, work, relationships, money and all the questions that crop up as you approach 30. Questions that, as Manu says, have no answer.

Manu had been carrying the idea around for a while and needed an image that conveyed how he feels: warm, honest and calm.

Why a podcast's brand has to sound like the person behind the mic

With a personal brand, the biggest risk isn't that it looks bad: it's that it feels like someone else. Manu was clear about it: he wanted the people who know him to see Manu being Manu, not someone playing a presenter. That's why we started with him, not with the design.

How we created the identity for Llegando a los 30

Before opening Pinterest, a questionnaire made for the project and an analysis of the podcasts his audience listens to. We went through the creative directions over coffee in front of the beach.

The result was a blue, classic, elegant identity with a very personal touch we ended up calling "Pijo del Norte" (roughly, "Northern Posh"): logo, episode numbering, cover art and two profiles, the podcast's and his own, that sit side by side without stepping on each other.

The result: a podcast launched with a brand that's very Manu

Llegando a los 30 is up and running, with its own identity for the podcast and for its creator. We're still by his side as he fine-tunes it.

With a personal brand, design comes last. First you have to understand the person, because the biggest risk isn't that it looks bad, it's that it doesn't feel like them.

What Manu says

Itziar helped me bring each and every one of my ideas down to earth, always respecting my opinions. Through a personalised questionnaire, she made me rethink things about myself I'd never have come up with on my own. The result has gone far beyond my expectations.
